Our February book club is the popular ‘The Private Life of Mrs. Sharma’ by Ratika Kapur. The book examines the life of the protagonist Mrs. Sharma who lives alone in Delhi while her husband works in Dubai – a condition experiences by many South Asians. Her mundane life takes an unexpected turn when she meets and begins a conversation with a stranger at a Metro station. Both humorous and sobering, the novel is a riveting examination of the clash of tradition and modernity.
